The Clean Water Act grants the EPA authority to protect these salmon and the 14,000 jobs that depend on them, by disallowing the Pebble Mine to go forward. You can help give voice to Bristol Bay, Alaska by submitting a comment in SUPPORT of the US EPA's Bristol Bay Watershed Assessment. Give them and President Obama the courage they need to stand up for Bristol Bay. You will be heard. Public comments open through May 31, 2013. Go here: ow.ly/kAsdF.

The odds are very high that the last time you ate sockeye salmon, it came from the pristine waters of Bristol Bay. Fully half of all the sockeye at market in the world today come from here, where the runs of fish are as strong as they have been since The Beginning. Approximately 80% of Bristol Bay residents, as well as national commercial and sport fishing industries, oppose development of the proposed Pebble Mine because of catastrophic risks it poses to their rich salmon-based economy, culture, and spirit.

Magnetic North - Episode 4

Heli Love

We had the pleasure of spending 4 days with Bret Gilleland and Mike Overcast at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. We got a sample of the adventures they offer during the summer - let's just say we were blown away! Bret and Mike did not need to say much about why they feel a draw to Alaska. The reason was apparent in the stunning scenery and blow-your-mind activities. On the fun scale, Tordrillo was a 13 of 10. Incredible experience, and the essence of Alaska shines through in Episode 4 - Heli Love.

Magnetic North - Episode 3

Feels Like Home

Filmed with Bristol Bay's Mission Lodge, Episode 3 showcases 3 guides working and playing in the Alaska bush. Justin, Zach, and Dan describe their connection to their job, the waters, and the incredible fish that they chase every season. Most folks who have worked or lived in AK can relate to their stories. Just like home, there always is "a draw that keeps bringing you back to this place". Episode 3 also features some incredible aerial landscape scenery, thanks to the pilots and crew at Mission Lodge.

Magnetic North - Episode 2

Dream Drift

We spent a few days with Kyle Kolodiejski of Kenai Riverside Lodge in their backyard, on the Upper Kenai. The Kenai River is arguably the most popular sport fishing destination in Alaska, but we saw an uncrowded river that felt more like the quiet homewaters so many Alaskan's enjoy. Kyle explains the lure that brought him to Alaska and the incredible Kenai Peninsula in Episode 2 - Dream Drift.

Sportsmen's Fight to Save Bristol Bay

While on our production tour this summer in Alaska, we produced this short video on the proposed Pebble Mine and the sentiment of anglers, guides, and sportsmen who love the wild and untouched version of Bristol Bay. This issue transcends backyard conservation - if we can't Save Bristol Bay, no place is safe - no place is sacred. Don't let the Pebble Partnership set the precedent to destroy the last intact salmon-based culture.
