Wildman Lodge sits near the artesian headwaters of one of Alaska’s premier sportfishing rivers. The river runs clear year-round and maintains consistent water levels regardless of weather conditions. Guests access prime fishing water by floatplane or jet boat. The river bottoms in this region are typically composed of volcanic sand creating plenty of good wading options that have shallow water and firm footing. The guide staff at Wildman excels at working with anglers of all skill levels. Whether you are a novice angler or one with years of experience, the guides here will provide help and instruction to match your needs.

In addition to all five species of Pacific salmon, anglers regularly target native rainbow trout, steelhead, Arctic char, and Dolly Varden using both flies and conventional tackle. Because the area sees minimal fishing pressure, Wildman has not faced the unexpected closures or restrictions common in more heavily trafficked regions of Alaska.

Wildman encourages catch and release practices for native trout species. However, the staff is happy to prepare one airline-approved box of frozen fillets per guest to take home.

The Trapper's Den 
The comfortable living room overlooks Ocean River, where you can enjoy watching the trout rise, the salmon wake and a variety of unique Alaska waterfowl. Brown Bears are often spotted from the Trapper’s Den as they slink by at the edge of the brush line across the river. At day’s end, the Trapper’s Den provides the perfect setting to unwind, reflect, and share stories of the day’s adventures. 

Guest Accommodations
To preserve a sense of exclusivity and personalized service, the lodge hosts just 12–14 guests at a time. Accommodations feature well-appointed rooms with either twin beds, king beds or spacious family-style suites, all complemented by private, modern bathroom facilities. Though set in a remote, off-the-grid location, the lodge provides reliable 24-hour electricity blending backcountry seclusion with modern comfort.

Wildlife Viewing
At Wildman Lodge, wildlife sightings are a regular part of the experience. From ground squirrels to Alaska brown bears, to walrus, the variety and number of animals in the area is impressive.

Only 10 miles from Wildman Lodge is one of the Bering Sea’s most frequented Pacific Walrus haul-outs. This is a special resting location for Bull Walrus, and it's just an 8-minute flight from the lodge. Experienced bush pilots will land you right on the black sand beach, walking distance from a rocky lookout just above the walrus. Here you generally see anywhere from 300 to 3,000 Pacific Walrus on any given day. This is as close and personal to wild walrus as it gets, and a once in a lifetime experience.

The Alaska Peninsula has one of the highest population densities of Alaska Brown Bear in the state. There are hundreds of bears in the area and casual sightings of brown bears are everyday occurrences.

Guests can also explore the black sand beaches along the Aleutian coastline, where it’s possible to find antique glass fishing floats, fossils, whale bones, and other natural artifacts. Whether experienced behind the lens or simply taking casual photos, visitors will want to keep a camera close at hand.

Wing Shooting
Each fall, wing-shooting anglers travel to Wildman Lodge to take part in its Cast & Blast program, a combination experience unique to the remote Alaska Peninsula.

The seasons for willow ptarmigan and waterfowl align with some of the region’s strongest stream fishing. Beginning August 10th, guests can add upland bird hunting to any sport fishing package, targeting Arctic char, silver salmon, and rainbow trout during one of the most productive times of the year.

The lodge features an inviting dining room that accommodates up to sixteen guests and staff for shared meals. A skilled culinary team crafts an ever-changing selection of flavorful dishes, blending classic American cuisine with international influences and showcasing the day’s fresh catch. Each evening concludes on a sweet note with house-made desserts prepared daily in the Wildman kitchen, offering a tempting finish to every meal.
