Thanks Alaska provides small-group custom tours on a private boat in the famed Inside Passage of Southeast Alaska. Petersburg, which is the launching point for a trip aboard the Hawkeye II, is a stunning fishing community with unbeatable access to Southeast Alaska and the Tongass National Forest which is the largest remaining temperate rainforest on Earth.  

While cruising through the 1100 islands that comprise the Inside Passage you will explore tidewater glaciers, view incredible wildlife, enjoy stunning vistas, set shrimp and crab pots, fish for halibut, salmon, steelhead, and more. Or choose to relax and do yoga or stargaze from the upper deck. Whatever you choose to do Thanks Alaska gives you an opportunity to unplug and to make lasting memories with those around you.


Lodging & Dining Details

The Hawkeye II is a 69’ Yacht designed for southeast Alaska with the maximum occupancy of 6 guests. While aboard you will share 3 double-occupancy state-rooms which are all in bunkbed format and very comfortable. There are also 3 bathrooms complete with hot water, a full kitchen, a full salon for lounging or dining, and a pilothouse for navigating the adventure. The back deck is set up for fishing or dropping crab pots, and the top of the boat is made for yoga, star gazing, whale watching, and for storing the 2 motorized skiffs used for adventures.

The crew of 3 will cater to all your needs. Hearty, and healthy meals are included along with complimentary beer and wine with dinner. They can happily accomodate food allergies with advanced notice. 

Sample Itinerary

5-Day / 4-Night Trip
  • Day 1

    Arrive in Petersburg, Alaska. Meet the Thanks Alaska Team at the airport where they will transport you to a hotel of your choosing or to the harbor if you choose to stay aboard the Hawkeye II the night before embarking.

  • Day 2

    The cruise starts with a ship out time of 8am. Enjoy the incredible scenery and wildlife of Southeast Alaska while cruising to that days destination and sleep at anchor.

  • Day 3

    Wake up and enjoy hot coffe, tea and breakfast. Set crab traps off the boat and get out the binoculars for some whale watching. Sleep at anchor.

  • Day 4

    Enjoy breakfast, and jump aboard one of the 2 skiffs for a fishing adventure in one of the many freshwater streams in the Tongass National Forest. Return to the boat for a hot shower and hearty meal. Sleep at anchor.

  • Day 5

    Explore the tidewater glacier environment, take the stand up paddleboards for a spin, and whalewatch from the top deck of the Hawkeye II. Enjoy a hearty meal and sleep at anchor.

  • Day 6

    Wake up and enjoy your last morning out in the wilds of Alaska's Inside Passage. Rig the saltwater fishing gear and try your luck from the back of the boat. Keep the binoculars handy to get a better view of Southeast Alaska's abundant wildlife. Return to harbor (usually a dinner time arrival). Choose to stay aboard for the night in harbor or get transported to a hotel of your choosing.

Travel Details

How to get there

Trips aboard the Hawkeye II embark from the town of Petersburg in Southeast Alaska. Guests are responsible for for their travel to Petersburg, and need to arrive the day before the trip start date and schedule the departure for the day after the trip ends. Once you arrive in Petersburg, the Thanks Alaska Team will take care of your transportation needs.

Thanks Alaska allows for lodging on board the Hawkeye II on the night of your arrival and the night prior to your  departure. However, they do ask that guests choosing to do so provide their own meals on these travel days. You will have access to the galley onboard.
