Fishing & Guided Activities

Admiralty Island is home to the Tongass National Forest, the largest temperate rain forest in North America and the highest population of brown bear and bald eagles per square mile in the world. All of the Favorite Bay Lodge activities are fully guided by local guides. The guides add tremendous value to the guest experience as they share their local knowledge of the history and culture of the area round them.

Freshwater Fishing - Within minutes of the Lodge you will travel by small boat to the mouth of native streams with runs of Dolly Varden, Cutthroat and Steelhead Trout. Also, seasonal freshwater salmon fishing is a memorable experience. You can fish these streams from shore and kayak or canoe as you follow them to hidden lakes. Favorite Bay Lodge's experienced Native guides will assist all levels of anglers with fly rods and ultra light spinning gear.

Saltwater Fishing - The location on Admiralty Island provides great saltwater fishing within minutes of the Lodge. Favorite Bay Lodge has only local guides who have plenty of experience fishing the local waters. All of the guides are Coast Guard certified and have their own large comfortable boats. All bait, tackle and gear, including rubber boots, jackets and pants are provided. A gourmet boxed lunch is packed ahead of time for you to enjoy while you are out there. At the end of the day, the Lodge will fillet, vacuum seal, and put your fish in an insulated box for you to take home with you.

Other Activities - In addition to world-class fishing opportunities, Favorite Bay Lodge offers many eco-adventures unique to the area. Hiking, kayaking, whale watching, Inside Passage excursions, pulling crab/shrimp traps, culinary classes and much more. The variety of experiences that you can have at Favorite Bay Lodge is extraordinary.
