Aniak River Lodge

Aniak River, Alaska Sport Fishing Lodge

Video

Description

One of the top sport-fishing and "mousing" destinations in Alaska and has been called the "Aquarium" of Western Alaska's freshwater angling. The Aniak River has been a well-kept secret and is a most "unique and technical river" located 318 miles WNW of Anchorage. It flows with the typical Alaska diversity with approximately 11 species of fish. Depending on the week of your stay, you should see somewhere around 7 and 10 species of fish available for your angling pleasure. The Aniak provides all 5 species of Pacific Salmon, Leopard Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Grayling, Sheefish, and Northern Pike. A great highlight to this expedition is that Aniak River Lodge is the only major Lodge on the Aniak River system.

Fishing Program

Aniak River Lodge caters to small fly fishing groups who travel the world to renowned fly destinations. Once you have experienced the Aniak River, fishing a total of approximately 70 miles up and down the waterways, we guarantee you will want to return!

At ARL, they don't expect you back until evening dinner. Your day starts with superb fishing and ends with a marvellous dinner prepared by their gourmet chef. If you still did not get your fill of fishing for the day, the 5-star Weatherport tent camps, complete with wooden flooring or carpet, dryer tents, hot/cold running showers, etc is located on a great stretch of river. You are not required to take your waders off for dinner. After dining, feel free to head back out to the river which is only yards away, and soak up that Alaska daylight!

Aniak River Lodge encourages catch-and-release fishing at all times. In the event that you wish to pack your legal limit of salmon to take home, they are prepared to process, vacuum-seal, and freeze pack up to 50 lbs. of your allowed catches to escort you home.

The Kuskokwim River has one of the largest annual returns of King salmon in Alaska, and the majority of these fish head straight for the Aniak River. Kings there average 20 to 30 lbs, with some tipping the scales at better than 50 lbs. The Kuskokwim also boasts the largest run of Silver (Coho) Salmon in the state, and of all of its tributaries, the Aniak is the largest producer of Silvers. In addition to the salmon, angling for Leopard Rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, Char and Grayling is as good as it gets anywhere. Last, but certainly not least, is the well-sought-after opportunity to fish for trophy class Pike and Sheefish. Both in the Aniak and neighbouring lakes and rivers, these unique trophies are a trip to Alaska by themselves.
