Alaska's Fish Tales Lodge

Fishing & Adventure Lodge on Prince of Wales Island

Video

Description

Alaska Fish Tales Lodge borders the Neck Lake outlet. The cabins come equipped with everything you'll need for your self-guided adventure - quality cookware, a washer and dryer, boot warmers, linens and a large freezer for your catch. The cabins sleep four persons comfortably.
You'll enjoy an abundance of wildlife right in your backyard. Eagles are daily visitors all summer and fall, black bears are common sights in the evening, and sitka black-tailed deer frequent the property.

Gregg and Christine Cook and their children Meghan, Jared, and Nathaniel are committed to helping to make your stay a memorable one, whether you're coming to fish, hunt, or just enjoy the incredible Prince of Wales Island and it's breathtaking vistas and wildlife.

The new lodge overlooks the Neck Lake outlet stream. When the deck is added, you literally can step outside and watch the salmon and bears from your doorstep!

Fishing Program

The fishing at Whale Pass and Upper Clarence Straight is phenomenal. From the incredible run of summer silver salmon in the bay and at Neck Lake outlet to the superb halibut fishing in Kashevarof Passage and beyond, the fishing is truly fantastic. The silvers arrive in mid-June, are thick by July, and remain strong through to fall. Pinks and sockeyes join in the mix as summer progresses. Tossing large spinners at the outlet of Neck Lake is always reliable, but fish can also be caught on the fly using various attractor patterns. The same patterns hold true in the oulet stream, with egg patterns getting the nod for fly fisherman.

The bay itself is also a prime area for dungeness crab, and Fish Tales Lodge will provide crab pots as part of your boat package. It's easy to catch a mess of crabs for dinner!

Prince of Wales is loaded with fresh water opportunities beyond Whale Pass. There is superb fishing for dolly varden in numerous local streams, excellent runs of sockeye salmon at Sarkar Creek, and Red Bay. You can also find excellent fishing for cutthroat trout in Neck Lake and outstanding fishing for rainbow trout in Red Bay Lake.
